Of all the gifts that a boy could be given, there is one that will surely last. It is a foundation of love from the faith filled father whose life has been changed with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is he, who is able to give the gift of wisdom that comes from above and will be available at a moments notice. It is he, who quietly gives the gift of humility through a prayer offered up as though there were no other course of action to be taken but to go to God. These are true and lasting gifts from father to son.
God has gifted us with his Word and we learn of His command and promise in Deuteronomy 6 "...that you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long."
The gifts we give to our sons today will most likely be the gifts they give their sons tomorrow. Maybe our fathers and grandfathers gave gifts such as an old shotgun, pocket knife or boat. While these things hold great value to us they are temporary at best. Their usefulness is limited and one day comes to an end. As fathers, it should be our desire to leave our sons with things eternal whose value is priceless and use neverending! A legacy of faith and obedience.
It is our prayer that you would consider coming this summer to spend some time at TC with your son and learn about the gift of God himself. This time spent over the course of three days is promised to be priceless!
